Exhausted!

We've officially had Kirby for over a week now, and today our new life hit me like a ton of bricks! I am really lucky that I have such an understanding pup.

Overall, Kirby is a really laid back guy. He took really quickly to crate training, he's a pro at house training, and most of all, he just wants to be around us. HOWEVER.... he is still a baby, and an energetic one! Most of my photos of Kirby turn out something like this:

Look what I can do!

After the first night with Kirby, I was totally drained, emotional, and feeling so sorry for this little guy missing his family! He cheered up quickly, and became the blur you see above! Today though, for some reason, I was just exhausted. Kirby was a champ and other than his 5AM potty break, let me sleep until 7:45 without a complaint! We played for a while, and he let me take a shower/get dressed, and read a book without a peep! He was so content just hanging out in his ex pen. This afternoon I was falling asleep while we were hanging out, so I put him away again, and he was silent while I took a nap for about 1.5 hours. He hasn't been put away for this long while someone has been home... ever since we got him, and he was just awesome. I love that guy. I've gotta go now, I've got someone waiting for a play date. :)

  1. What a good boy Kirby is. He's learning to read your signals. These Aussies are little smarties, but Kirby sounds like a super fast learner. Soon he'll be joining you in napping!

  3. Sounds like little Kirby is a smarty all right! Ryker and I and two of the cats took a long nap today, heavenly!
I had to get a better camera to help capture all the Ryker antics!

  4. Thanks for stopping by my blog! Awesome to see another Aussie puppy owner. Kirby is soooo cute! It will be interesting to read your experiences since our pups are around the same age.

So far, I'd have to say we are having different experiences. LOL Sounds like your boy is chilled out and behaves well. Mine is.....not. lol My boy is super smart (knows come, sit, down and we are working on stay). He's a little over 8 weeks old, but we have had him for a little over 2 weeks and working out a lot of behavior issues. My brag is that he's very smart, but the downfall is that he uses it to get what he wants. lol He's very very crazy, bouncing off the walls and making as much noise as he can. He's super loud!! He's rowdy and he knows it, doesn't care because he knows he rules this house. LOL I'm working fast on obedient training and it's helping some so far. The only time he's quiet is when he hits puppy coma. When he sleeps, is when I get to sleep.

The first week of our sleeping schedule was nonexistent. I was getting up every single hour of the night. LUCKILY, it's dropped down to 2 -3 times a night, but it always ends up with getting up 1-2 hours before I need to get up. I'd like to sleep till 7, but Reuben wants to get up between 5 and 6 every morning. There was this one morning, I slept till 6:30 and it was the best morning ever. lol

I love my Roob, but I'm jealous. Can we trade? LOL
